The Woman’s Role In The Bible
Part 14: The Love of the Husband and Wife
In the name of God, Master of the universe, Ruler of the earth.
My Beloved Sister in Christ Ingrid Greetings,
Peace be unto you. May the grace of our Father forever be with you and may the blessings of Christ Jesus be in your heart knowing that through God and Christ we have the Holy Spirit. God Almighty has blessed the institution of marriage. However in this society some of the most famous people and those with great name recognition and TV exposure, movies etc. denounce this God ordained institution. Why?
Why do so-called happily married women support and idolize celebrities that denounce marriage? Why don’t preachers speak out about the rampant instances of people living together who are not married who also claim to be Christians? So has God sanctioned the love of husband and wife?
In 1 Peter verses 1-7 the writer gives instructions to wives and husbands. We also suggest that you read the remaining verses that reveal much about the Saints that suffer for doing good. However for our discussion follow us to:
1 Peter 3: 7. “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.”
There should be understanding between the wife and husband. It is written that the woman is the weaker sex physically. However this has been clouded in contemporary times with the rise of women’s liberation and women taking on many jobs, and sports that were traditionally male dominated. But God still maintains that the woman is the weaker sex. This weakness is usually noted in a physical sense. However some dispute that scripture has never implied that women are less intelligent than men. Also the word has not implied that men have stronger intellectual abilities.
Meanwhile God declares that while there are differences in the strength of men and women they are all equal heirs to the grace of life. The state of mutual prayer in the home is blessed when all love God. Therefore love is the most important element here. I heard my wife declare “I will follow you as long as you follow Christ.” For now turn with us to several companion scriptures. In Ephesians 5 verses 22-33 Paul writes about wives and husbands. We will note the following verse for our discussion.
Ephesians 5: 25. “Husbands, love you wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;”
So do you see Brethren that when you love Christ you will love your wife or husband? Also do you see that a woman should follow her husband as long as he follows Christ? Now follow us to another prominent scripture found at:
Colossians 3: 19. “Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.”
Paul in verses 18-25 writes about duties and rules for the Christian household. Love in this verse is not exclusive to the romantic love of a man and woman. However before a man takes a woman as a wife he should have a romantic attraction for her. Meanwhile the writer notes that as the man assumes his role as the head of the house he should not show anger in asserting his authority as ascribed by God. Thus he is to be not bitter toward his wife. Again when one loves Christ he can love his wife.
However from our observation we see many weak men that claim to be Christians and followers of Christ Jesus. We also see many strong women that have a problem with the role they should take in the home and the Church. But if they (both men and women) would follow the Bible they would remove this dilemma. This seems to be quite simple but evidently it is not. Mainly because no one wants to follow the Bible and God’s Laws on the relationships between men and women.
So in the process we see Churches (made by man) ordaining women as Bishops. These same churches and many others also ordain and place women in the pulpits as ministers and pastors. Thus in the process the man who often ordains these women denies his role as the head of the house and defy Christ as the head of the Church with the man to follow.
Therefore we continue to warn and condemn those that disrupt and corrupt the Bible. There is only one Law. This is the Law of God. All others follow. However man’s laws cannot rewrite the Laws of God.
