Part 13: Seek The Approval of God & Not Man

In the name of God, Master of the universe, Ruler of the earth.

We declare that one of the greatest tragedies of the False Prophets within the churches of God is the desire to please man in the flesh. All human beings should extend love to his neighbor. Therefore this love from the believerís vantage point first extends from the love of God. Thus God is love and if we love God we love ourselves and our neighbors. Therefore the scriptures support the will of brotherhood to all of humankind.

However the scripture does not support man seeking approval of man before God. God is first, and to the believer God is also last. God is Alpha and Omega. Thus God created us and He will be involved in our final life here on earth. This point is tailor-made to illustrate that "the failure of man during the journey of life on earth to seek God's approval is recorded. Thus the record of your faith, belief, and your works which are a part of this package is a heavenly insurance policy. However many people have allowed it to lapse and sadly many have never applied nor accepted this Free Policy.

It is also a sad report that many Preachers are a part of this group. Again we look at the writings of the Apostle Paul for scripture references to better understand the dilemma of those that put man before God.

1 Corinthians 4:3. "But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: Yea, I judge not mine own self."

Paul was a messenger of the Lord. Paul had also received a special Calling, thus he would have to answer to God. Paul was not so concerned by how man approved his conduct and actions. The approval of man does not guarantee the approval of God's Judgment. The evaluation by man has its place, but we must keep foremost what "God thinks.

In verse 4 Paul reveals his priority for the approval of God.

4:4: "for I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord."

It is for sure that man cannot match the wisdom of God. The Lord knows and is the one capable of judging. In the 5th verse of this text we see Paul telling the Corinthians not to judge prematurely. He told them that God will appoint the time of judgment which will take place when he returns. Paul also told the people that only God knows all the facts and your secrets.

The factors of judgment have been mis-interpreted by various false Prophets within the church. These people are often guilty of crimes against God and God's people. Therefore they resent any critical review. However the Word God reveals that all Christians have a responsibility to make a critical review of leadership in the church. However this critical review must be based on facts and not here-say. But the most important message in this passage (4:5) is that God is the only Judge.

Meanwhile verse 6 gives us additional clarity on the approval of God or man.

4:6. "And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another."

The scripture lesson found in this passage is very powerful and reveals a key element on the life of all Christians. Here Paul tells the people of Corinth that their loyalties were not to be divided among different men. Paul goes on to say that they are supposed to be united in following the scriptures. When you follow the scriptures you follow God. Thus if all submit to the authority of the scriptures it is less likely that individuals will become puffed up in their efforts to set one teacher over another. The Word reveals that no Preacher of God has more status than another.

Most Preachers do not follow God. Thus they first seek the approval of man. Our closing scripture is the 14th verse taken from 1 Corinthians 4. "I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you."

Our primary Calling is to work for Jesus. Our service will not be over looked. (See Matthew 10:24). However when we do not keep God first and work for the approval of man our life becomes an ungodly experience.
