THE POWER AND MIRACLE OF PRAYER
Psalms of Prayer & Praise
Part 70: Part V Psalms 35: A Plea & Prayer For Your Enemies
In the name of God Master, of the Universe, Ruler of the earth
Editors Note: Beloved what measure of Truth, Word or deed does it take for the lost the unrighteous to believe that we come as did David in peace and in prayer for all that liveth? Is it written then that only the righteous or those with a heart of God see reality? Does it take God (in heart) in a faith walk then to be able to see, feel and touch the love of other human beings? Will the enemy of God and His people always be at odds with you as you go this way in love? Those at enmity with God will they ever realize that only those of like mind are the only souls to fear?
There is confusion in the great sea as man tampers with its soul. But with the acknowledgement of God as the Creator and the judge of all of humankind will these things become settled. Calm will once again come upon the water and below the surface but who will listen? So will the soul and body of man fall from grace if the heart is not blessed by the Spirit? However the Spirit will pass no one by that love Jesus.
Peace be unto you. To the Church (the Church of Christ Jesus the Prophets and Apostles) and believing Christians everywhere. To those that believe in the Bible (the Spirit of God) as the supreme authority that governs all of humankind. In this we give thanks to God the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit that leads and guides us the straightway. We also come with no material motive or gain or profit from rendering the Truth of God. Those called to great service are given the greatest prosperity that exists by God and not man.
Our beloved brethren we long to stay in God’s will by praying for our enemies. We also pray that the strong will not let the unrighteous tear them away from Abraham’s bosom. Thus we come lifting up the good and the bad the righteous and the unrighteous as we desire in our heart’s that all will be saved. We continue our discussion with a final look at verses 23-28 of Psalms 35. This is a powerful message thus we have sought to take our time to thoroughly look at all of the verses found here. We suggest that you will also look closely at the scripture found here and the various cross references.
Psalms 35: 23-24 “Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.”
David renders a supplication for divine help. Here God and Lord are used in the same sentence. Thus logically there must be a difference in their meaning noted here. God is to be worshipped as the Supreme Being. However Lord is in reference to a ruler. But when we tie in the thought noted here we see that God should be worshipped and obeyed as the Supreme Ruler. Therefore why do so many people worship so many other things and not God?
I, we (FreedomJournal) long to be stirred up in the Spirit thus we will forever see Heaven and distinguish between God and man. Glory to God. Now look at what our beloved brother David says in the next verse. Think on this.
“Judge me, O Lord my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.”
Judge here is noted in the classic definition as a ruling or verdict and in this case in regard to the facts. David was confident that he had been obedient to God. Therefore he was not worried about the judgment from God. He also knew that his enemies would have no grounds to rejoice over him as he would have the victory.
At the 9th Division of Psalms we see 20 verses where the Psalmist renders praise for victory over his enemies. David had many victories in war especially over the Philistines. Our gracious Lord and master will never ignore our pleas for help. Now concentrate on verse 4: “For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right.”
What is very important here is the phrase “right cause.” What does it mean? If David had not been obedient and right in his cause God would not have protected him. Will God then protect us as we sojourn in this foreign land filled with doubters? Is Doubting Thomas alive and well? Will this same God forever protect those that have suffered in the cause of righteousness never yielding to man and materialism as these are the credentials that often are required to be accepted and successful and not those that are God-fearing? Most men will not take up your cause or see what you see unless you conform to their doctrine, agenda, and platform or follow some man who has lost sense of touch (Wind) and reality and think on things and say he is god.
At Psalms 43 we find 5 verses on hope. There is hope in God thus in God we trust. Look now upon verse 1:
“Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.”
Brethren there is no guarantee that your own people will not be as harsh as those outside your community. Here beloved David reveals that many of his own people were his enemies. They also worked in many covert ways to destroy him. Just who has been in the vanguard of the persecution and attempts to Censor the FreedomJournal? Has our brethren and even some of our kinsmen gone astray. We thank God for prayer as we will forever call out the names of those we love as well as those we know nothing about. Now return with us to our primary scripture found at Psalms 35 and verses 25-26.
Psalms 35: 25-26 “Lt them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it; let them not say, We have swallowed him up.” (Also see Lamentations 2:16 and return to Psalms 56 and the first verse).
Who would want their enemies to claim a victory and gloat at their mis-fortune? David knew that he had to endure many trials however he still desired and prayed for God to not allow his enemies to rejoice in any of the sweet sorrows he endured.
35: 26 “Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonor that magnify themselves against me.”
As David’s enemies boasted his prayer was that they be defeated in their plots against him. We also render the same prayer for all that stand with God. Have mercy Lord? (Return to Psalms 38: 16 and review all of the scripture at Psalms 40 beginning with verse 14).
Psalms 35: 27 “Let them shout for joy, and be glad that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.” (For additional cross references return to Psalms 40 and the 16th verse also see Psalms 70 and verse 4 and finally go to the New Testament and see the Apostle Paul writing at Romans 12:15).
David was not concerned about lifting up self. He gave due credit to God for all his favors He rendered to him. Glory to God then, now and forever more.
Now for our final verse and thought at this place.
Psalms 35: 28 “And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.”
Again we see David recognizing that our praise is to the Lord and not man. Will you lift Him up?
God wants our hearts to be right. Turn now to Psalms 51 and several verses found there that will close out our discussion.
Psalms 51: 14-15 “Deliver me from blood guiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.”
“O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.”
We have talked a lot about the righteousness of our beloved David. However the record shows that David was guilty of violating the moral code of conduct. David had also shed the blood of another not in war. Thus he asked to be forgiven for these infractions. At verse 15 he asked the Lord to allow him to speak the appropriate words under the present circumstances. We serve a good and righteous God. We also ask for forgiveness as we stay in prayer pleading for our helpless enemies with a repentant heart.
