Part 40:  In Times of Trouble & For Important Decisions Seek God First In Prayer (Luke 6: 12)

In the name of God Master, of the Universe, Ruler of the earth

Editors Note: There were many people in the church house. Some came and kept God on their lips. However some replaced God with the name of the Preacher and other leaders in the flesh. Meanwhile the discerning Spirit that is only revealed to those that keep God first and those that stay in prayer was wasted.

Thus John was questioned once more than once. Is it truly a miracle for those that stay with God to see their enemies near and afar? Do those that sit under a man who scatters the flock a fool or stupid? Is the rejection of knowledge assigned to fools in the Wisdom Book?

Proverbs 1: 7: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction”

Greetings Brethren,

Peace be unto you. To the Church (the Church of Christ Jesus the Prophets and Apostles) and believing Christians everywhere. To those that believe in the Bible (the Spirit of God) as the supreme authority that governs all of humankind. In this we give thanks to God the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit that leads and guides us the straightway.

We bear witness that the righteous come to God first in prayer.  Many things have come to trouble the saints as they sojourn in this foreign land. However we will forever lift up Jesus in prayer realizing that the Father has all power.

“There was once a man who had great and powerful friends and associates. They also had plenty of money and by most accounts were rich in houses and in land. They also were registered as the leaders of the community in which he lived. Although a man who knew about prayer (as he had been under the word) he lifted these men up in that they had great influence because of their wealth.

But a crisis came upon him and he needed help with problems he had no control over. He was at the hospital and his wife and children were badly injured in a car accident. One needed life support. Thus he called his friends to get their advice on what to do. However one friend was not at home. One friend broke down on the way to the hospital. And the other friend was sick. However God is never late He is always at home and he will never break down on the way as He does not need transportation to get to any destination.”

Therefore we will call on God our Father in all times of trouble and in joy. We look to God first in prayer and He will reveal what is needed. We only have to wait and watch. Sometimes God has already solved our problem. But faith is necessary to see God and the miracle and power of prayer.

At Luke 6: 12 we see Jesus praying as he is about make a great decision. He is about to choose His twelve Disciples and he does not ask anyone in the flesh for advice. But he prays to God His Father which art in Heaven.

“And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.”

The selection of the men to reside over the kingdom at hand was very important. Jesus therefore took this task very seriously.  Therefore it made sense to spend the hours preceding his decision in prayer to His Father.

There are three accounts of the naming of the twelve disciples. At Matthew 10: 2-4, Mark 3: 13-19 and our present scripture taken from Luke. However Luke is the only place where we find that Jesus went to pray. Also note where Jesus went to pray at Matthew 14:23 prior to the time he walked on the water. Also see James

5: 15-16 where the prayer of faith will heal the sick.
