Part 21:  Disobedience Will Impede A Prayer Request (Proverbs 28: 9)

In the name of God Master, of the Universe, Ruler of the earth

Editors Note: The people still came upon the land from all walks of life as diversity was seen in many things. Many laws also were established by man as some sought to obey nothing as they were moved by a spirit that saw vice and many things that were not suitable for the righteous. However disobedience had become normal behavior for countless of our brethren.  The Home as that basic institution laid down to some many acts of obedience as there was a general rule to obey your parents.

Also in that other basic institution the School a standard of obedience arose as the places of learning also had to have some rules. However the Church as that third basic institution laid the standards for obedience to God. But many missed this boat. The record also reveals that many church boats lift up new sails and cast away the sails that will never lose touch with the Wind. Meanwhile in that fourth basic institution the Environment that is often never talked about as a defining impact on the souls we see a lust for disobedience. Thus some come in new Hip and Hopping life styles revealing a spoken word attack on authority as there is no obedience to anything including self. This is especially seen in the young as they get old and their children became old also.

John the poll taker said everybody if asked wanted to go to Heaven but no one wanted to die. Some even claimed they rejected the Supreme power completely however we know nothing of what they really said when the time came that every eye opened to be closed.

Greetings Brethren,

Peace be unto you. To the Church (the Church of Christ Jesus the Prophets and Apostles) and believing Christians everywhere. To those that believe in the Bible (the Spirit of God) as the supreme authority that governs all of humankind. In this we give thanks to God the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit that leads and guides us the straightway.

We can hide sin and our faults many times from man however we can hide nothing from God. Thus the righteous strive to be obedient as we make this journey. Obedience is also very important in prayer. Those that strive to abide by the law are obedient thus when they make prayer requests God hears the prayer. We continue our discussion on the miracle and power of prayer. Therefore we now bring obedience up for review. What is obedience? Is it just a mind thing? Is love only seen in verbal declarations? How can you love someone and not act out love in some fashion? Then is love and or the practice of love an action word?

I love the Lord. Thus I make a daily testimony to this fact in prayer. I also strive to tell of the blessings of Jesus whenever possible. I also look to the Bible for answers to the dilemmas of life. We will only know what God would have us to know regarding obedience and His laws by reading and studying the Holy Bible. The Wisdom of Solomon rendered by God in the Book of Proverbs is very powerful. We will go there to discuss several scriptures as we bring obedience and prayer up for review.

Our primary verse at Proverbs 28 is verse 9 however we will also note verse 10 for an additional note.

Proverbs 28: 9-10: “He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.” (Also see Psalms 66: 18 where we find that God will not hear a prayer when one has iniquity, hate or malice in their heart). Meanwhile the word abomination in this verse has reference to something disgusting and abhorrence. Therefore it is disgusting to God for a man to pray and lives a life that is a contradiction and disregard to the law. There are several cross references to this verse. However bear in mind the scripture found at Psalms 66: 18. Since we have dealt with the scripture there previously we will note two additional scriptures taken from Psalms 109 and Proverbs 15. At Psalms 109 David teaches about liars and those that slander.

Psalms 109: 7: “When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.”

Here David wished for the conviction of those that were his enemies and the enemies of God when they were brought before the court in a trial.  David further describes the prayers of the unrighteous and those that defame and deny the law as an abomination.  Now go with us back to Proverbs and the 15th Division where the profound Wisdom of Solomon continues to unfold. Our primary verse is verse 8 however we find the verse prior and the one that follows also of equal importance to our discussion.

Proverbs 15: 7-9: “The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.”

Proverbs 15: 8: “The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.”

Proverbs 15: 9: “The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the Lord: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.”

Brethren there is no knowledge and information surely no wisdom out of the mouths of those that are foolish. Thus the heart that stores knowledge and righteousness can dispense neither when it is absent. Meanwhile at our primary verse (8) we see Solomon reminding us that although a material sacrifice is in most instances more valuable this is not always the case. For example when a wicked man offers a sacrifice and a righteous man offers a prayer of obedience this is more valuable in the eyes of God. Our finally verse as we leave this section of Proverbs is self explanatory. Those that follow after wickedness are disgusting and an abomination to the Lord. However those that follow the Lord and keep His laws and commandments are uplifted in righteousness. We will now return to our primary scripture at Proverbs 28 and the verse that follows verse 9 at Proverbs 28.

Proverbs 28: 10: “Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.” (Also see Proverbs 26:27; Matthew 5: 19 and 18: 6).

As we review obedience and the lack of obedience in prayer we note another factor in this equation. Many men and women come this way wallowing as hogs in conspiratorial treachery attempting to dig holes and ditches for the righteous. Thus they live daily in an attempt to take the saints of God away from the path of righteousness. Often also in a world sold out to money and material things acts of deceit and treachery are sponsored and carried out with payments of bribes and many pieces of silver. These are the materialistic prizes that have been passed down from the days of Judas.  Some women will use every means at their disposal to try as did Delilah and Jezebel to persuade a righteous man to do evil and join cults. However Solomon informs us that when the person sought to be devoured by the wicked stays with God the unrighteous person becomes their own victim.

We have seen this act of disobedience among many people as we make our sojourn. They (the lost and the misinformed) also come praying with you and for you while denying the many laws of God while taking on those that suit their needs and desires. Beloved pray in righteousness as God knows all. You cannot tailor make God’s laws for your own personal use.
