(What Does The Bible Teach About Preachers?)
Part 52: Will The Preachers of Today Cause a Curse To Come Upon The Land?
Peace be unto you. We greet you in the precious name of Christ Jesus realizing that God our Father which art in heaven sent Him to save the world. Thanks be to this same one and only God for allowing Christ to also comfort us in times of peace and trouble with the Holy Spirit.

In the name of God, Master of the universe, Ruler of the earth
Beloved just why is the message found in Jeremiah 23 so important for Pastors? Here we find classic scripture that will convict those that claim a calling to Preach the Gospel. Here we also find a job description for the Preachers and things to do and things not to do.
For example idolatry is forbidden by God. What are the idols of today? Is money worshipped by many Preachers and their various congregations?
Jeremiah 23:10: “for the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mounreth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right.” (See Psalms 107:34; Jeremiah 5:7-8, 9:10)
The charge of adultery has reference to idolatry. The word swear at this place means a curse. Hence the unfaithful Prophets have brought a curse upon the land. In Psalms 107:34 we see what God will send upon the land as a chastisement. Therefore the word is clear on what will happen to those (Pastors/Preachers) who follow things and not God.
Beloved to get a firm grip on the thought just rendered follow with us to the Bock of Hosea for a powerful message on this subject. As always pray for patience and faith taking the time God has blessed you with while on His earth.
Our primary verses are taken from Hosea 4: 2-3. However we will begin with verse 1.
Hosea 4: 1: “Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.” (Also see Isaiah 50:4; Jeremiah 7:28: Hosea 12:2; Micah 6:2).
4: 2: “By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.”
4:3: “Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of the heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.” (Also see Isaiah 24:4, 23:9).
In these scriptural messages God charges Israel with sins. Just how do these charges relate to our discussion and the contemporary Preachers? Logically when people depart from the proper or moral rule of life they will then most likely embrace other evils.
For example those that believe in the murder of unborn babies they call a mother's right to abortion, most likely will also have gender confusion regarding the union of the same sex.
At this place (verse 1) the Jews corrupted the true religion. Do the Preachers of today teach the truth of the Bible? Thus during the time the Prophet Hosea wrote the people had lost respect for the truth. Do we see today where many Preachers come claiming to be little gods and lie on God and the people say nothing.
In verse 3 we see that God will at times punish His people by sending various curses upon the land. This verse is a warning that a curse would come upon the land.
Brethren can verse 3 be applied to the present condition of a sin-sick world? What curse will God now send upon this land so corrupted by the false teachers?
