(What Does The Bible Teach About Preachers?)
Part 13: What is The Responsibility of The People to Truth (Cont. Jeremiah 5: 31 and Micah 3: 2-4, 11)
Peace be unto you. We continue our discussion with Jeremiah 5: 31 that we noted as a cross reference to our primary verse taken from Micah 2: 11.
Those that sit under false prophets evidently agree with what they are taught. But in most cases they do not know what the responsibility of a Christian is.

Micah and also Jeremiah warn the people about the false teaching of the Prophets and Priests. The degree of responsibility resided in the Prophets, Priest, and the people. What of the situation today. We no longer have Prophets as noted in the Old Testament also the Priesthood has ended (although some want to revive it). But the people are the same.
In the Church today the Preachers have greater responsibility than the people. So do the Deacons and various other church leaders. In Galatians 6: 5 the scripture tell us:
“For every man shall bear his burden.”
However the Prophets and Priests were to blame for the great ills and evils of the nation during the time Micah and Jeremiah wrote. Today the Preacher is to blame for the utter disregard for God’s Truth due to the materialistic doctrine they preach.
But did the Prophets and Priests of the Old Testament force the people to follow and accept false teaching? Did they agree to the corrupt, ungodly leadership? Does a man have to take part in sinful acts of the church etc. to share in its guilt? Turn to Romans 1: 32 for an explanation on this point.
“Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”
God’s law as revealed in the previous verse notes when one is favorable towards things that are evil and ungodly is in support of that wickedness. Therefore silence among the houses that teach false doctrine means consent.
Brethren it is for sure that we have a great responsibility as Christians. For example parents have parental responsibility. If they don’t follow through with common sense their children will suffer. However those that seek to please God also are responsible in all other matters.
So why are so many so-called believers irresponsible? Do they know what God teaches about this subject? Who will teach them? Will they teach themselves?
