Greetings Brethren:

The nation, the land will never be healed by the works of evil. Truth is the way to healing. Liars on the faith will render you wounded and not healed.

Peace and Love,

In the name of God, Master of the universe, Ruler of the earth.

The way to healing is accomplished by good servant-hood. In these passages of scripture (Isaiah 58) the Prophet Isaiah informs the people of the need to live in the Spirit of God. Isaiah writing at least one hundred years before the Babylonian captivity reveals the general corruption of the leaders and the people.

Inspired by God Isaiah speaks with a strong voice against the evil doers. Thus the term "cry aloud." Spare not", means not to be restrained in denouncing the guilty people who had sinned against God.

Isaiah 58:1. "Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins."

The true worship of God is more than empty ritual. Thus fasting, visiting the Temple daily and listening to scripture readings is not enough. Here Isaiah reveals that the people had lost touch with the true worship of God. God does not honor pious and so-called righteous living when we have an unforgiving heart. However the most important element here as noted by Isaiah is compassion for the less fortunate, the poor, homeless and the oppressed.

Isaiah in verses 2-7 reflects on the outward insincere practices of the nation and most particular the sin of the leaders.

Isaiah 58:2. "Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God."

Related Scripture:

Isaiah 29:13-14. Although the people claimed to belong to God they were disobedient. The wrath of God would come down upon them.

Jeremiah 3:10. Israel is like a faithless wife

The Lord charges her with ignoring the example of her sister and being insincere.

Jeremiah 7:8-10. The people indulge in false worship.

The people came into the Temple not to make atonement for sin. Here we see the people following the ritual of worship but living a sinful life.

Titus 1:16. Warring against false teachers.

"They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate."

The life-style of the person is a clear indication of how they view God. The way we live tell much about what we believe. (Also see 1 John 2:4-6).

Salvation cannot come by service or works, without faith in Christ. Our faith should promote us to reach out to others. Therefore our service should go beyond our own personal growth to acts of kindness, charity, justice and generosity.

Isaiah in the midst of a people confused and disobedient tells of the healing power of God. God always keeps the door open for his people. Thus the healing hand of God is evident.

58:8. 'Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward."

Here God speaks of obedience to get the just reward.

Related Scripture:

Psalms 85:13. "Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

If a man's righteousness is displayed before God, then he shall set or establish man in the steps of righteousness.

Jeremiah 30:17. "For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord; because they called them an outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after."

The disease of idol worship was so severe the nation needed to have its national dignity wounded by captivity in a foreign land. Meanwhile the Lord promised to heal these wounds by their release from captivity and return to their land.

The healing of the land and people comes from a merciful God who honors obedience, faith and belief.
